We at A Cure for Bassen Kornzweig Foundation offer a wide range of services for every need. Our services are designed not with just the one who is sick in mind but the entire family. When a loved one is sick the entire family suffers from the disease as well. Here at A Cure for Bassen Kornzweig Foundation we allow each family to choose what is best for them.

Support Groups

We offer support groups for families with this rare disease to come together, learn about the disease, gain new friendships, and find support. Our support groups are located in Illinois. We are currently doing weekly meetings for 2 hours. Please contact the main office for more information on date and times.

Our Awareness Campaigns

Our program is designed to help bring awareness to the general community, families, as well as the medical community about this rare disease. We need doctors to be able to recognize what this disease is, how to test for it, what the treatments are, as well as who to refer the family to when they make the diagnosis. This disease is so rare that only 100 children have it. More than 85% of the medical community has never heard of it and never seen a patient with it. With more awareness we are better able to get earlier treatment before symptoms begin, faster treatment to slow some of the symptoms, as well understand the disease to help develop a cure for it. In this program we will use the internet, lectures, conferences, symposiums, phone calls, emails, letters, and word of mouth to bring awareness. We will also conduct fundraising campaigns to help in this effort.

Monthly Newsletter

We have two types of newsletters. We will provide free of charge our basic newsletter that tells what Bassen Kornzweig is, new medical information, and our current fundraisers. This newsletter is sent via email only. Our regular quarterly newsletter is for a small yearly donation of $25. This newsletter goes out to more people. It includes what Bassen Kornzweig is, the foundation, new clinical trials, treatments, conferences, board members, fundraising results and winners. This newsletter also contains information about what you can do to help. This is generally a 5-10 page newsletter that we send out quarterly via mail.

Organic Food Drive

We do have a continual Organic Food Drive year round. With this rare disease Bassen Kornzweig the children who have it must usually go on a healthier diet that includes organic food as to avoid eating long chain triglycerides. The organic food drive accepts any organic food that is certified or proven to be organic. The food is then given to the families.

Organic Clothing Drive

We are also having a year round organic clothing drive. These children often have more than one medical condition, they tend to have more allergies than other children. Organic clothing allows these children to have clothing that minimizes the risk of causing anymore complications in their already complicated lives. Organic clothing should be sent with proof that it is organic. The clothing based on what we recieve is then given to which child it fits.

Fundraising Project

Our fundraising project allows everyday people who want to help the chance to sign up and become one of our offical fundraisers. We have several programs to choose from. Coin drives, toy drives, clothing, food drives, order takers, etc. They are all available and free to help with.

Our Research Teams

Our research team is made of those people who are in the medical and science field. They are here to research different treatments, causes, preventions, and cures. This team undergoes many hurdles. For this reason we are limiting who is allowed on the team to only qualified medical and science researchers with experience in metabolic disorders. The purpose of the foundation is to help save these children and that is why they are here.

Rare Disease Registry

The registry was created so that anyone with any rare disease can enter their information, when you do that you will be connected to other people near you with the same issues. Its purpose is to help create networks of support for people with rare diseases.
